Retroid Pocket Mini Faces Screen Issues, Offers Limited Returns

The Retroid Pocket Mini, a handheld gaming device, has been found to have an unfixable issue affecting certain graphical effects in emulated games. Specifically, scanline and pixel grid shaders, which mimic the appearance of classic CRT displays, do not function properly, leading to misplaced scanlines and uneven pixels. Retroid, the Chinese company behind the device, acknowledged the issue and announced via Discord that it will accept returns. However, these returns are highly limited, with only 200 being accepted from overseas customers within a brief window from March 8th to March 14th. Customers will also have to cover the shipping costs upfront, with Retroid promising reimbursement. In an attempt to mitigate the backlash, the company is offering all Pocket Mini owners a $10 stackable coupon for two of its future handhelds. While Retroid cites high costs as a reason for the return restrictions, many gamers are frustrated that their $199 device cannot properly render retro game visuals, which was a key selling point.
